Hello! Yes, it’s me. You do remember me right? Well I remember you…. I also remember that it has been approximately 364 days since I even attempted to dust off my electronic pen and pad, so to speak and actually write something. Nevertheless, I am here and trust that you can take this moment or two to indulge me. I’ve “prepared” a video for this first day.
Today’s Verse:
For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again:
Proverbs 24:16a

I didn’t want to write anything today. Simply because I just don’t “feel” it. My trail… this test… the turbulent situation (you pick) definitely didn’t slow down. In fact, it morphed into another unforeseen situation, literally. So no… a part of me does not feel like penning anything. HOWEVER, there is another part of me that strangely enough is rejoiceful and is expecting something! So of course, I am going with the latter part.
I thought for a moment to post some generic statement or something relating to – speaking to the storms in your life or looking to the hills for your help or casting down the mountain during challenging times. Staring at the screen…nothing. So I just shrugged my shoulders and decided again to make this personal.
Many times when faced with a trial(s) we focus so much on the winds, rain, thunder and lightening – ask Peter. Hey you are NOT imagining those winds and yes you did see that lightning flash! THEY ARE REAL! Our reaction to it comes from a basic or fundamental response of our flesh which is fueled by our unbelief! We tend to run for cover in times of distress and doubt.
Today on this Tuesday I want to go with the other option. The option in the Spirit. That strange feeling that makes me say that I should be rejoicing in this seemingly difficult situation and allow it to energize me to expect God to move on my behalf! Not for my expected end – NO! BUT for His expected end in my life!
See I can’t call it right now! No it is not the end of the world, so to speak but it sure “feels” like it.What I am experiencing is totally in direct opposition to what the Lord showed me about the matter.
With that being said, today I am going to lean on the side of my victory and my upcoming TESTIMONY! I am going to believe God’s report and not the outward circumstances!
Today I am believing that this Test is simply that — a test or pop quiz making sure that I got the material or instructions I’ve been living and studying in His Word. The outcome of this Test will ultimately Glorify God.
So I’ll ask youTest -or- Testimony? You pick…
Until Next Time… Bask In His Presence & Remain Focused and Faithful!
I first want to say thank you for taking the time to begin another journey with me. As always, it is my intent to utilize the next 31 days as an attempt to Restart or refocus on several different areas of my life. First, is my daily devotion and second my writing/creative side.
I have a schedule in mind however, I am open to the Holy Spirit if He decides to do something else. For example, I planned to open up with a big video and possible give away HOWEVER, life events over the weekend prevented me from doing such. In fact, the impact over this weekend was so tough that I was reconsidering even doing the Restart this year. Before I could get a prayer out to the Lord, I heard Him say, “Why?” My response of course was, “Lord? Why what?”
“Why Quit?” was His words to me.
There is a saying the world says, “When the going gets tough the tough gets going!”
As Believers we have to stop expecting things to be easy and without a Spiritual fight! ANYTHING that we are doing to Glorify God in our Lives will ALWAYS get fought against by the enemy.
Expect It! Deal with It! & Move On!
Life is full of obstacles and things that we must go through. These things we experience comes in cycles. God’s Word puts it like this:
Ecclesiastes 3 (HCSB)
The Mystery of Time
3 There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven:(A) 2 a time to give birth and a time to die;(B) a time to plant and a time to uproot;[a] 3 a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to tear down and a time to build; 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh;(C) a time to mourn and a time to dance;(D) 5 a time to throw stones and a time to gather stones;(E) a time to embrace and a time to avoid embracing;(F) 6 a time to search and a time to count as lost; a time to keep and a time to throw away; 7 a time to tear and a time to sew; a time to be silent and a time to speak;(G) 8 a time to love and a time to hate; a time for war and a time for peace.(H)
9 What does the worker gain from his struggles?(I)10 I have seen the task that God has given people to keep them occupied.(J)11 He has made everything appropriate[b] in its time.(K) He has also put eternity in their hearts,[c] but man cannot discover the work God has done from beginning to end.(L)12 I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and enjoy the[d] good life. 13 It is also the gift of God whenever anyone eats, drinks, and enjoys all his efforts.(M)14 I know that all God does will last forever; there is no adding to it or taking from it.(N) God works so that people will be in awe of Him.(O)15 Whatever is, has already been,(P) and whatever will be, already is. God repeats what has passed.
So the lesson in Day ONE – Find whatever season you are in & Keep Moving!
Don’t allow the attacks of the enemy coming through people (including yourself) or circumstances get you off focus!
#Restart2016 begins…
Until Next Time… Bask In His Presence & Remain Focused and Faithful!
I was inspired to write this post today, after a deep conversation with a dear friend. This friend has to make a very uncomfortable decision and is feeling all of the apprehension and guilt that comes along with making a hard choice. Many times when we are going through something, we can see the writing on the wall which shows us all the warning signs including the escape plan out of the situation but something has a hold on us. This hold prevents us from making rational or even objective decisions in said situation. The plan of escape or instructions become muddied. It eludes us – we miss it – we are torn between two decisions. The first is to go with our gut and what we know is right – The Truth. The second is to go with our “feelings” of not wanting to hurt or cause a ruckus, which leads you to make excuses and rewrite the Truth which is – The Lie!
After listening to the circumstances, I said with all the sincerity and love I could muster… “Walk Don’t Run!” Of course that statement was met with the common – It’s easier said then done response. Oh how I know that feeling! It’s hard when we make promises or commitment in a relationship, no matter what type, then discover we have to sever ties. We get locked in by emotional soul ties that develop during the course of the relationship and find it virtually impossible to break away. Well this feeling of impossibility is a definite LIE and DECEPTION!
Proverbs 6:1-5 shows us how to react when we find ourselves entangled with a stranger, unbeliever, or anyone and we’ve given our word and in some way we should not have done so. God instructs us to humble ourselves (repent) and flee the situation like a gazelle from the hands of a hunter. The scripture speaks about financial entanglement however, we can take this same principle and apply it to all types of relationships that we get bound up in.
We often get in over our heads and we make foolish promises that we cannot keep or wish to keep for that matter. When we realize that we must humble ourselves, acknowledge our error, repent, and gracefully bow out of the situation, then and only then will we be free to move forward.
God through is precious Son Jesus Christ has always given everyone – past, present, & future – a way of escape!
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it (I Corinthians 10:14 KJV).
At the root of every hard decision, is our flesh lurking to take the reins and steer us toward destruction!
Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us (I Timothy 1:13&14).
Well, well, well, we are very much into the “new” year. I purposefully didn’t blog or vlog for that matter, any “new” year resolutions or post any of my grand ideas/plans for this upcoming year, as I believe many times when we do that, it is out of traditional hype. My focus over the first three weeks were to assess me and my expectations and desires for this project and virtually all that I am doing in my life. I wanted to seriously think about my immediate goals for this “new” year and what I want to achieve. I first started by looking at my successes and fails of 2015. I won’t bore you with my laundry list, however, I will say that change is inevitable and it is a good thing! I’ve changed a few of my commitments over the next 6 months that will free up more time to focus on writing. Some of the changes were out of necessity and others just made sense.
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before, but my past thinking around my writing was, “I need to be inspired by circumstances or outside influences to write!” Well I’ve come to a bit of realization after asking myself, “How’s that INSPA thing working for you?” Now I am not throwing out the idea of inspired writing, as it has its correct place however, outside inspiration alone can’t cut it with ANYTHING you truly desire to do. Just as having zeal or passion for God alone will not afford you the true knowledge of Him. We need to know Him beyond our own perception and get to know Him truly according to His plans and purposes. This same principle must be applied to those claims of living out our “calling” or what we are doing “for the Lord”. By this is the only Inspiration we need, that which comes from the Holy Spirit!
So my plans so far for this year?
Ask the True & Living God through focused prayer, study, meditation of His Word, “What are your plans for me this year?”
There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand. Proverbs 19:21 NKJV
The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. Psalm 33:10 NKJV
Many times we find ourselves in the thick of a battle and all we can hear is the loud roar of the fight surrounding us. This deafening high shrill is designed by the enemy to keep us off our game and is an all-out attempt to force us to make a wrong move that could be detrimental to ourselves and the lives of others.
When we are in the heath of the battle and we call out for the Lord’s help, we get so distracted by the advances of the enemy, it seems as though we are losing. We fail to actually “hear” when God has bought relief or even the answer to the problem.
I have been in the thick of a battle recently. Yes, I do understand that as a Believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we are already Victorious in Him! However, we are in a peculiar position that we must still forge ahead and FIGHT from the position of victory. This fight remember, is from a spiritual vantage point and we must use spiritual weaponry “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal…” (II Cor. 10:4).
We must learn how to “listen” in the midst of the storm or the battle for that still quiet voice from God through His word and through the voice of others.
Three times today the Lord ministered to me some relief in this particular battle. The first time it flew right over my head, the second time I kind of got it and the final time was an effort of the Lord assuring me that it was in fact a message from on High!
It is inevitable that in this life we live that we well encounter tribulations as well as triumphs. The Word tells us that man born of a woman is a few days and full of trouble! (Job 14:11) This is a cyclical life — we gain and we lose, there’s life and there’s death, we are fighting or we at peace… (Ecc. 3:6) and during all of this we MUST develop a listening hear to the voice of Father God during these times!
Those who have an ear let them hear what the Spirit of the Lord is saying…. (Matthew 11:15; Mark 4:9; Rev. 3:22)
It nearly slipped my mind once again to post something today, as I am deep in a homework assignment. I am pursuing my BA in Strategic Communications online and I am in the home stretch….2 1/2 semesters ’til GRADUATION! I decided as I wrote up my homework that I would share…. (just in case you’re wondering.. I attend a Christian College).
Those you have an ear, hear what the spirit of the Lord is speaking to His people!
Why Parables?
Jesus is often referred to as the Greatest Storyteller. I believe this is true not just because of who He is, since based on that alone He is THE ULTIMATE STORYTELLER however, simply because Jesus was able to captivate us when telling any story. The stories He shared were about Him, his relationship to the World and His People. He used the vernacular of the day, as well as common everyday situations that makes storytelling easy. You want the listener to be able to relate to what you are telling them by including familiar ideas and/or surroundings. The interesting part about how Jesus told His stories is that he wrapped them up in parables and by doing so, He was able to reveal Truth to some and hide Truth from others. An often question is – Why?
Based on God’s Word, it is obvious that Jesus wants everyone to be able to receive those Truths, hence the reason why He came to earth (John 3:16 KJV) but there is also a prerequisite to understanding those truths – BELIEF (John 3:18). When asked by His disciples, “Why do you speak in to them in parables?” Jesus explains, “It is given to you – the disciples – those who believe to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven, but to them – those who don’t believe it was not given” (Matthew 13:10-11, emphasis mine). He goes on to explain the reason why they could see but not see and hear but not hear in verse 15, “For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.” Jesus explains that it’s not really parable that withholds the understanding but the condition of the person’s heart.
Paul expounds on this very same thing when he writes in I Corinthians verse 14, which states that it is the natural or carnal man or nonspiritual man who can’t receive the Spiritual things of God, because they make no sense to him and are useless.
