New King James Version (NKJV)
18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.
Did you know that there is meaning to EVERYTHING we say and do? I wrote a piece some time ago talking about the usage of the word diva. This word has been adopted by women to describe a woman who is in control and serious about their business. Upon further investigation, the word diva has a bit more meaning than that.
Diva – noun, 1) A prima donna, 2) A disagreeable & unpleasant person, 3) A vain & temperamental person.
Digging a deeper the word diva literally means goddess. It comes from the Italian word, divina meaning, “divine”, which is the feminine derivative of the Latin word divus or divine one. It also means the rank or essential nature of a god and/or the deities of ancient Greece. In mythology, divas were the lowest forms of divinity. The bottom line is the word diva literally means demon or spirit.
I am one who enjoys searching out the true meaning of words or names. The word for that is called etymology.
Etymology – noun, the study of the sources and development of words to discover the true meaning and history of a word. For instance the meaning of my first name is of Dutch derivative and it means, to tell or to inform. Hmmm … Interesting don’t you think?
Some might say that this is extreme and lends itself to be a bit legalistic. I of course beg to differ. I say it is a matter of mindset – how one thinks. There are many things we ascribe to that are without a doubt against the Word of God. It takes only a willing heart and a transformed mind to unearth those things. The Word tells us that we in this world however we are not of this world. (John 17:14) Furthermore, we should not conform to this world (its operation, its way of thinking or living) but be transformed (changed, reconfigured, converted) by the renewing of your mind. (Romans 12:2a)
The title for the piece was chosen purposely – In scripture, the number seven represents completeness or perfection. Genesis 2:2 On the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. There are other scripture where we can see that example – Judges 16:13 – referencing Samson’s seven braided plaits, Revelations 1:1 – The seven spirits of God, or Exodus 21:2 – in the seventh year the Hebrew slave was to be freed etc.
Now let’s look at the word – lucky. If asked, MOST Believers would believe that the word lucky (luck) is derived from the name of Lucifer. Here are the results of the research I conducted:
Luck – (noun) the chance happening of fortunate or adverse events; fortune: Good fortune or prosperity; events that are beyond control and seem subject to chance;
“luck.” The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition. 2003. Houghton Mifflin Company 7 Aug. 2013 http://www.thefreedictionary.com/luck
“luck.” Collins English Dictionary – Complete and Unabridged. 1991, 1994, 1998, 2000, 2003. HarperCollins Publishers 7 Aug. 2013 http://www.thefreedictionary.com/luck
Word Origin & History
15c. from M.Du. luc, shortening of gheluc “happiness, good fortune,” of unknown origin. Related to M.H.G. g(e)lücke, Ger. Glück “fortune, good luck.” Perhaps first borrowed in English as a gambling term. To luck out “succeed through luck” makes a verb of it, Amer.Eng. colloquial, first attested 1954.
“luck of the draw.” Online Etymology Dictionary. Douglas Harper, Historian. 07 Aug. 2013. <Dictionary.com http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/luck of the draw>.
I have to admit, I was of that same opinion and it was largely because I listened to someone else’s opinion and didn’t do the research myself. I urge ANYONE to be as the After searching both the Bible and the internet, I could not find any direct link between the words luck and Lucifer. There were a few articles that attempt to make the connection but have no biblical foundation to support it.
By definition – luck(y) and seven should be diametrically opposed to one another… Just something to think about. The bottom line is this: Every name, word, phrase, colloquialism or even pratice (we’ll talk more about that later) has its origin or root. Those who proclaim a relationship with the Lord ought to know what is actually being said or meant before ascribing to it. Also, there are many, many sayings that we attribute to being the “gospel” however have no such connection. Believers of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ should not only be students of scripture but practice exercising their intellect! I encourage everyone to develop a Berean spirit and search it out! (Acts 17:11)

I felt led to share this….
I am not writing from a place where I have achieved some religious realization nor do I place myself in a position where I am the end all be all. Ninety-nine percent of what I am writing from comes from my own personal experience, or development and even in that just because a person “gets it” doesn’t mean they don’t struggling in that revelation.
We are all responsible for what the Lord reveals to us and this is the struggle: That once you know what is required you have the responsibility to adhere to or come up to that standard & Oh! What a struggle.
Luke 12:47-48
47 And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48 But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.
New King James Version (NKJV)
Most attribute this MUCH to the acquisition of power, money, or influence. This is far from what the Lord is talking about. It is clear: THAT SERVANT WHO KNEW HIS MASTER’S WILL, AND DID NOT PREPARE HIMSELF OR DO ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, SHALL BE BEATEN WITH MANY STRIPES. Wow… This is a power and yet so useful. Although it may seem like a hard thing for us to achieve, it is possible to walk in His will, which is found only in the Word of God.
In just these first few days, I have realized some things that I really need to submit to and come up in! I know it is possible not because I desire some great reward but simply because the desire to do so does not originate from me and it is of the Lord. As long as He is still grooming me, rebuking me, chastening me all is NOT lost! I leave you with this:
Philippians 3
12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. 16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule,[b] let us be of the same mind.
New King James Version (NKJV)

The best made plans are bound to be interrupted, but in the midst of pauses,
obstacles, tribulations, holding patterns etc. will you continue to forge forward through it all?
It is important to be aware of those outside influences that tend to influence our decision making that in turn create opportunity for success or failure. More importantly are those inner struggles, that we don’t want to face or even talk about. Many times these go overlooked and are the main contributor to the things that keep us “stuck” and unable to move forward. Like glue these internal issues make it virtually impossible to move. Even when it appears we are moving we are only going around in circles. Much like a dog chasing its tail.
Before we part the matrix, we are susceptible to our spirit man being damaged. We tend to think that this only happens after we are born, while we are being raised and later in our adult life experiences. This is far from the truth. Some hurts even go from generation-to-generation and are embedded in our DNA, they are typically identified as generational curses. Fear, rejection, suicide, mental illness, cancer, even sexual perversions.
Getting out “Unstuck” is a supernatural process that needs some basic actions. Ultimately we know that to get healed and delivered from hurts that are both psycho-emotional and spiritual we must be born again. We must also know that in order to experience true deliverance we must identify the damaged areas in our lives and begin to allow the Holy Spirit to heal us from all hurt.
Keeping our heads in the sand will never give us opportunity to heal and set free. We must lift our heads up and look to the hills from where our helps comes and that help is from the LORD!
What are the things that keep you “Stuck”? I pray that the Lord will reveal those things to you and you’ll allow Him to begin that healing and deliverance process in your life!
Until Next Time…. Bask in His Presence and Be Blessed!

The craziest thing happened to me as I was walking across the street…. How often does this happen to you? Life is full of obstacles, tribulations, and trials. Job 14:1 Trouble is germane to the human experience. If we allow them to stop us — well, we will never get to where we need to go. The only way to combat any trouble in our lives is to first have the equipment needed to overcome it. That equipment is found ONLY in the word of God. Your purpose, your direction, your inspiration, your rebuke, your instructions, your EVERYTHING is in the Word. When we meet up with trouble there should be only one question we start by asking ourselves and that is:” WHAT DID I DO??” Yes! Ask yourself- ”What did I do?” Everything we experience is a direct response to something we did! Whether it is because we obeyed the Lord or disobeyed Him. Suffering and/or experiencing hardship can be a direct result of you BEING in the perfect will of God. Matthew 5:10 When you have decided not to compromise His Word at NO cost, you will go through ridicule & judgment among those who you would think should understand, namely the people of God and also you will experience the warfare that would attempt to make you curse God and die! Not to worry … because He has told us in His word that this persecution and trouble that we WILL experience will serve as a mechanism to keep us salty! How? Salt is a preservative, which cannot preserve itself, and as long as what we are going through glorifies Him — well, He will certainly preserve us so that we will remain preservatives in the earth and lights in this dark and dank place.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works (your efforts, your testimony, your life) and glorify your Father, which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 KJV (emphasis mine)
When you find that you are experiencing trouble make sure the trouble qualifies you and not disqualifies you. Instead of brushing off all trouble as irrelevant to your actions please know where the trouble is coming from. You very well may need to repent or rejoice.
Until next time… Stay in His Presence and Be Blessed!

Ambition should be made of sterner stuff. ~~ Mark Antony
Ah my beloved Fridays. I so look forward to them. Like most who work the typical work week, Friday’s mark the end of our dutiful work commitment and the start of an approx. 55 hour fiesta. Ideally this time is set for us to tune out the 9to5 and place all the meetings & agendas on the shelf and really enjoy much needed R&R. But do we actually do that? Those of us who have ambitious goals don’t really rest now, do we? Nope, most of that time is more than likely spent on thinking about or planning the next work week because there is no rest for the weary. No matter how tired or beat down our jobs make us we truly must never give up thinking about our ambitions. What is ambition anyway? Ah I am glad you asked.
am-bi-tion (m-bshn) noun (1) a-An eager or strong desire to achieve something, such as such as fame or power. b-The object or goal desired. (2) Desire for exertion or activity; energy.
[Middle English ambicioun, excessive desire for honor, or wealth]
We use words all the time and never really get to the root of what they really mean. They sound good and everyone else says it so therefore it must be good or not that bad. In the root sense of the word, ambition is excessive, overkill, and just plain too much. Ambition is generally fueled by money, power, control, or selfish gain. Hence the reason the Word of God warns us of it. One of the first acts of man’s ambition is seen in Genesis 11:4:
4 And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”
New King James Version (NKJV)
Raw ambition motivates us to do what is right in our own eyes, with no consideration as to what the Lord has for us. Eventually this mindset will lead us on the ever so crowded street called the Broadway, which will place us out of the will of God & if there too long our fellowship with Him will be broken. So how do we counteract this ambition that seems to be innately a part of our character? We should first recognize that the self-life is part of the sinful nature of man and it will always promote any & everything that goes against the Word of God and His will. As long as we are living in this world, in our corporal bodies we will always have to battle the urges of the flesh that the world promotes — The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (1 John 2:16) and not accepting this truth only reinforces the original lie – “And you shall be as gods” (Genesis 3:15). One of the main ways to counteract this persistent battle is to know God’s Word. In it we will find a way to maintain our focus. I stated earlier that ambition is generally fueled by money, power, control, or selfish gain and the correct mindset is knowing that we cannot serve God and money. (Matthew 6:24) He instructs us to seek first the Kingdom of God and then all these things will be added unto you…. What things??? Well let’s see …
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Simple right? Should be…. 🙂 but we all know that it is easier said than done. So can we turn our ambitions into God’s perfect plan…Is that even possible?

Hello everyone! Well it is that time again to get in gear and RESTART in the month of new beginnings – August. I put a lot of thought and preparation into what I would like to share BUT I realized this morning that I failed to do one thing and that is – ASK you what you wanted to read, view, and/or discuss. What topics peak your interest?
So on Day One, I would like to do just that ask you for your feedback! You can leave it in a comment below OR email me @ i.inspireu@yahoo.com . In the Subject field please type: PROJECT:RESTART AUGUST 2013. I also would like to do a bit of reflection by reviewing the post from the last RESTART in 2011. Every Thursday will be a sort of reflection time called Throwback Thursday’s.
We opened up the last restart talking about eliminating the dead weight before attempting to transition to the next level.
The opening mantra in 2011 was: No preparation – No elevation – NO FLIGHT!
It is great when we take the time to remove the old things to make way for the new in our lives. In fact we really can’t grow or benefit if we don’t adhere to that process. The parable in Luke 5:36-39 speaks to this.
36 Then He (Jesus) spoke a parable to them: “No one puts a piece from a new garment on an old one; otherwise the new makes a tear, and also the piece that was taken out of the new does not match the old. 37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined. 38 But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved.39 And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately[c] desires new; for he says, ‘The old is better.’”
New King James Version (NKJV)
So how do we prep our fragmented minds, our tattered garments, our leaking cisterns, or our old wineskins to receive something new?
In order to know how or what to remove out of our lives to receive anything that the Lord has for us, we must be in communication with the ONE who is the author of our faith. I believe one the most essential things we have in our relationship with Christ is – PRAYER. Simply put prayer is our communication with the Lord and during our prayer time we petition or ask the Lord for said need or desire. Communication should be a two-way exchange, someone talking and someone listening and this goes back and forth. Most of the time we begin our petition and we keep talking, and asking, and pleading, and asking some more and we fail to LISTEN to His instructions. Put your request before Him and be still or quiet. Meditate on His word to get the instruction or clear view of what you are concerned about.
So having said all of that I challenge us to get our minds in gear and prepare for change else what we share and learn in the next 31 days will just leak out and be of no effect.
I leave you with this: Philippians 4: 6&7
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Until Next Time… Bask In His Presence & Be Blessed!

Have you ever felt stuck? Unable to move forward, side-to-side, or even backwards?
- be unable to progress with a task or find the answer or solution to something.
- be or remain in a specified place or situation, typically one perceived as tedious or unpleasant.
- be unable to get rid of or escape from.
It is a most uncomfortable feeling. When I was a teenager I used to have a recurring dream where I couldn’t move or talk during the most crucial times… A teacher asking me a question… I have to deliver a message… or I have to make a decision. It is a psychological battle when you know you are supposed to be moving or doing said task BUT you can’t seem to make progress.
Last night I dreamed that I was chasing something and during my pursuit I realized I was being pursued. Initially my pursuit was fueled by me wanting to capture what I was chasing. It soon changed when I realized that what was chasing me appeared to be getting closer. My focus became divided. I wanted to get away from my pursuer equally as much as I wanted to capture what I was going after. I realized that what I was chasing attempted to get away by climbing up a huge tree. Before I realized it, I started flying to get closer. I was surprised that I had this ability. I could feel and hear the wind created by my arm movements. I began to soar but I looked back and realized that what was chasing me could fly as well. This confused me a bit and I instantly felt defeated. I began to feel unable to move forward…. STUCK therefore what I pursued got away.
This dream says sooo much to me BUT the MAIN thing I want to bring out is that often times we don’t realize or accept what we can do IN CHRIST. We forget. We forget what the Lord will allow us to do and accomplish in Him. What is just as important — we also forget that the enemy of our soul is in constant pursuit of us to get us off our game.. to keep our eyes off Jesus which will allow us to achieve the things He has destined for us to accomplish!
My goal for the month of August is RESTART! I want to talk about the pit falls and challenges that attempt disrupt our pursuit of our divine assignment as well as a ton of other things. My desire is to be an encouragement to others as well as MYSELF!
I plan to incorporate blog post as well vlogs each day in August. So, once again I invite you to take this 31 day journey of discover with me.
Be sure to either follow my blog OR submit your email address to receive email updates.
Mark your calendars and let’s get our RESTART to get UNSTUCK to get moving… flying… soaring!
Until next time….
