If My Words Could Speak

the musings of a peculiar poet….

There is an elephant that has landed in the middle of my post! Can you see it? He has a sign around his neck reading, “WHAT IN THE WORLD HAPPENED TO YOU!?!”

Hahaha… You wouldn’t believe me if I were to tell you or perhaps you would. I would hope so, since we are all humans with human problems. Mine happens to be… I love what I do and I am to perpetually on a quest to create an environment to carry out my writing goals. It never fails when we plan to do something, something else wants to intrude and take up our time our or change our focal point. The one thing that I’ve learned during this Restart is that all best made plans can and will be interrupted by something. The question is – Do you really want to discover the TRUE reason for your dilemma?

I began writing this post on Day Twenty, after a week or so of being beat down by the pain of my toothache. I was determined to keep moving and did, however the movement I made couldn’t be seen here on IfMyWordsCouldSpeak. It was being made behind the scenes in my daily life. Oddly enough I didn’t get the overwhelming feeling of failure this year. After committing myself to posting everyday that idea was quickly opposed by several events and I began to think of ways to regroup.

Instead of focusing on my “writing”, the Lord had me focus on my relationship with Him and in doing so, I discovered that a few areas that are directly related to why I wasn’t seeing growth or movement in the places I want to “Move” in!

You would be amazed at my findings!

I listened to a young woman one Tuesday evening on Periscope, during the second week of #Restart2015. She gave a powerful testimony around the successes she is now experiencing in her life. She made it clear that it had not always been that way. Just like myself it would seem that there was always something in the way of getting to where she needed to be, whether it was in her personal or business relationships. During her Periscope, she gave many pointers on achieving or realizing your dreams and I am sure they all were phenomenal however there is only ONE that continued to ring in my ear when I heard it!  She ministered that there was a pivotal moment in her life when someone asked her, “Have you ever considered that the issue is you?”

Although, I kept listening and tapping the screen sending up hearts to let her know I related to everything she spoke on. Those words… that question literally reverberated through every bone in my body and kept repeating itself to me.

“Have you considered VMarie that the issue is you?”

On that very same evening, I began to take mental inventory on how I have conducted myself in certain areas. No matter how I sliced the cake of reality I had been served, every slice had either a little, a lot, or ALL of ME in it! There was no getting around it! The first step in making a move toward the right direction is being transparent.

transparent

adjective

easily seen through, recognized, or detected; open; frank; candid: readily understand

Being transparent has to first begin with yourself and secondly with God. When we see ourselves through the lens of Truth as God sees us, then and only then can we really see our own personal involvement in our so-called “failures” or “short comings”.

Many times we look for outside reasons, however if we take occasion to read His Word, we can clearly see that problem lies within us.  Until we do this we cannot even begin to get an audience with the Father for a resolution. We tie the hands of God’s when we refuse to face the ugly and horror of our own personal depravity. If we don’t face the truth about ourselves and repent, we are fundamentally liars before God!

Psalm 101:7b

he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.

Please believe me when I say that this revelation of transparency is a work in progress. As we all delve in to a deeper relationship with the Lord through His Word, we cannot help but to see ourselves in those pages. And through every level of faith, we are continually changed to His image by the Holy Spirit (II Corinthians 3:18).

Remaining transparent, truthful & honest about oneself, keeps you on the potter’s wheel of transformation and sanctification!

Until Next Time….

Bask In His Presence and Be Blessed!

Have you had your serving of humble pie. Humility. This word is a very misunderstood. Here is what being is NOT:

  • Being passive
  • Wimpish
  • A groveler
  • Weak or
  • A Doormat

Here is a dictionary definition of humility:

noun

a modest or low view of one’s own importance; humbleness. lowliness, meekness, submissiveness

Humility in the Word of God speaks to one having a character of reverence toward God only and not of ourselves. Having the spirit of humility is in direction opposition to a proud & haughty spirit. The Lord gives those who are submitted the grace to wear the garment of humility. In its silence, humility speaks louder than any boisterous prideful and obnoxious character. It doesn’t to the lack of power but exemplified true power under control (Prov. 22:4; I Peter 5:5).

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:311, KJV)

(Original post from Down the Rabbit Hole by VMS – July 28, 2009, Revised August 2013)

Anyone down there listening???….

We live in a society that embraces the quick fix. If it takes more than a minute we don’t want it! This mind set is a destructive one. It feeds into the notion that diligence and perseverance are archaic and is no longer desired or needed. Did you not know that God’s timing is NOT our timing? Often times God’s timing feels a bit slower than ours. His Word says that there is a “time” & “season” for everything.  A day with the Lord is as a thousand years and thousand years as one day.

Do you remember when you gave your life to the Lord? You were probably were told — “Now everything is going to be ALLL right!” In a sense everything is “all right”, because you gave your life to Christ and judicially you can stand before God and your current path isn’t a path — to Hell! Most of us forget to read the print in the Book … the Good Book… The Bible… The WORD of God.  Most of the time we aren’t told about the spiritual battle we have just signed up for! After our conversion, we must get disciplined in His word so that our minds can be TRANSFORMED to the mind of Christ. How is it that we have lived the majority of our life in sin and to the dictates of our flesh and think that we must not go through a process of change… transformation… deliverance… and sanctification?

Can we please keep it real and stay in the realm of reality???

I had a conversation with an associate of mine, who announced to me that finally they’ve decided to do what the Lord has called them to do! After years of living their life out of the will of God, in rebellion & disobedience, they have had the “epiphany” they were ready to preach the Word of God! Ok.. What happened to the period of time where you start getting delivered from all the disobedience you walked in and become a faithful steward? What happened to your PROCESS?? Certainly you’re not counting all those years of rebellion to God has your preparation time?

The word of God says that He exalts only those who humble themselves. Those who exalt themselves will be abased!

And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. Matthew 23:12

This is an act of your will — you must choose to be humble.

 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 1 Peter 5:6

Ok, so now that we have gotten right with the Lord, whether it is for the first time or after being rebellious to His Will, we must basically SIT DOWN! Our zeal is only to encourage us and excite us to go on to KNOW Him further. This is not a license to skip over His designed process — sanctification which includes discipleship. Even Jesus went through a process.

Are you being the servant greater than your Master?

Can U Hear Me???…..

Until Next Time … VMarie aka Thr33

“Humility needs no other voice… it can speak for itself!” – VMS

My original post today was full of inspiration, direction, and encouragement. However, from that thought to me actually writing it I don’t seem to know where all that inspiration, direction, and encouragement went… I would blame on the HUGE challenges I faced seemingly from the first thought of what I would share today. I actually got slapped on my buttocks with these challenges. To be totally transparent it making me feel as though what I had to say is so insignificant! Who really cares anyway!?!

Well… I am going to attempt to move beyond my own personal war today (which actually started last week)…

Our New Identity

I had a dream last night. In it a woman began to share with me the story of their father finding out that his birth name (first and last) wasn’t really what he was told from a child. The woman was in awe behind this reality, as I was. I asked her how her father was taking the news. I imagine some time had passed because the next thing I recall in the dream is I am now on a conference call with the woman and her father. As he re-told the story, I could hear the shock in his voice as well. Once he was finished telling me what all happened, I took a deep breath and said, “Wow. That is some story!” In awe of the details myself the only advice I could muster was, “Well at least you get a chance at a new identity and a new beginning to redefine who you really are!” As I gave this advice to the man, I thought for sure that he would fight what I said but instead he said, “You know you are right. This is something that should be considered a good thing. Instead of looking at it as a loss this is a gain!”

I started meditating on the message of this dream. As I began sharing it with someone, I got excited as I could clearly hear the Holy Spirit sending an encouraging reminder that the Lord has given us a new identity. We we should embrace it and not look at all the things we’ve lost however, we should look at all the new opportunities we will experience with this “new identity” (Rom. 6:6; I Peter 2:9; I Cor. 6:19-20, KJV).

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

“Oh what a wonderful Word from the Lord on this Marvelous Monday!”, I shouted. Approximately 15 minutes later, in roll my own personal rain clouds threatening to put a damper on this bit of encouragement and within another hour or so, torrential rains and winds begin to blow. My knee jerk reaction or “flesh reaction” was to throw my hands up in surrender to the storm… I did for moment. I then began to formulate a plan of action and each step of the way I got plummeted from the down pour.

Now I sit here writing this post soaked to gills by own attempts at resolving this issue and feeling a bit miffed by the whole ordeal. I forgot that quickly that I should be submitting the “problems” to the one who has given me my “new identity”, because clearly I cannot resolve them! If I could solve all of my problems, why would I need the Lord?

So I cry out, “Help Lord!” and began once again embracing the reality that before I laid down last night, fell into my slumber, the True and Living God who is omniscient (all-knowing), omnipotent (all-powerful), omnipresent (present everywhere), knew of my challenges I would face today. He definitely has the power to reveal to me the resolution at anytime!

He has the answer & I am waiting for it…

Until Next Time…

Good Day! It’s Throwback Thursday!

Before I begin…. I want to update you on Day Four & Five!

I’ve been in serious pain over the last few days due to a toothache! What is so ironic is this pain I have originally was intermittent and I felt as though I had time to tend to it.. HOWEVER since July 31st it has been a steady issue. Do you think that this is a coincidence? Well some could say that it was bound to happen considering the underlying issue was there already and others might say well that it seems suspicious that all of sudden the pain wants to now go full throttle almost to the point of being debilitating. My answer? Well I think it is a little of both. Trouble is germane to our human experience. The Word of God says, “A man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble” (Job 14:1, KJV). Trouble is bound to beset us simply because we were born into it! The surprising thing about it is we don’t usually prepare or expect it! Often times, we are shocked when trouble finds us especially when we’ve decided to obey the Lord. It escapes us that this “new found” trouble is always lurking around every corner and we should be prepared. Now I am in no way suggesting that you live a life of paranoia. What I am saying is the life we are given to live in accordance to the bounds & limitations set by the Lord will NEVER be without “trouble” – obstacles, challenges, issues, problems. Our life is lived in cycles, we win some and we lose some or we laugh some and we cry some — Ecclesiastes 3

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?

So the Word of God let’s us know that we are going to experience some type of trouble during our life time and we should never let this stop us! We need to get up dust ourselves off and get back on the Narrow road of our Salvation. When we do, we will find out that there is something that we must learn on our journey and someone else to encourage along the way!

Down The Rabbit Hole::: The Color of Trouble

The Color of Trouble

Trouble has different hues. When we see the cloud trouble from afar it’s a bit silver. We have so much hope and inspiration for others who are going through. Have you ever heard of the saying, “Every cloud has a silver lining”? I once  believed whoever made that up was looking across the way at a neighbor’s cloud of trouble… When the daunting cloud of trouble touches a friend or not so close family member that lining gets a bit darker. It’s no longer silver but a sort of gray. We send our love and encouraging words however deep down  inside we are glad that we are not going through that particular trial or tribulation. We say things like — “God doesn’t allow more than we can bear”  or “I will keep you in my thoughts & prayers” and we do pray for those that we see in distress and believe God for their situation to be resolved. Finally when the dark cloud of trouble touches our own doorstep, we only see black. Somehow we forget how we witnessed miraculous healings, breakthroughs & recovery that only  God could & would do. The cloud trouble at our door seems to be so thick that we even question whether our prayers were able to get through it or if God is even paying attention to our situation. Our memory fades us  from the last time when God delivered us from a trying situation or of His promise that He would never leave us nor forsake us. God often instructed the children of Israel to build monuments to remind them and their children when He delivered them out of whatever trouble. A monument serves as a visible reminder of God’s faithfulness and His ability to rescue us in a time of need.  Can you think of a time when God rescued you from a situation? You thought that this was it— the end —  no recovery from this. You might even have gotten a couple of bumps and bruises or even a fracture BUT God did come through for you some kind of way. Can you remember?

Can you remember when you cooked your last meal and wondered where your next meal was coming from? God sent a concerned person your way and that person sincerely asked if you needed anything and you shared your situation. Can you remember that concerned person buying enough food that lasted a few weeks.  Can you remember when you were down to your last dollar and God told you to ask help from someone you didn’t really have a great relationship with? That person GAVE you money that supplied the need. Can you remember crying out to the Lord and asking for HELP?!? He sent a stranger to give you a Word of Wisdom & encouragement?

Can you remember?

I can…

Life is cyclical, meaning that life situations or troubles are repeated in cycles or seasons. There is a time for EVERYTHING. So if you haven’t had a trying experience — live long enough and you will have several.  When you find yourself going through a cloud of trouble remember those times when God delivered you out of it but most importantly when you find yourself witnessing someone else’s cloud of trouble seek the Father on how you can help that person… Be a blessing in someone elses cloud of trouble.

Today I was visited by an angel – a messenger. I had a Sophia moment. You remember in The Color Purple when Sophie was in the store attempting to purchase items from the laundry list that the Mayor’s wife gave her. Sophie was just released out of prison for sucker punching the Mayor (wrong move).  After her stint in prison, she ended doing the very thing she said she would not do and that was being the maid of Mayor’s wife. Her ordeal left her in a bewildered and catatonic state. As she stood in the middle of the general store, out of nowhere Ms. Celie comes to her rescue. She takes the list from Sophie and begins to help her in gathering the items. Later on in the movie Sophie thanks Ms. Celie for being there for her in one of her lowest moments & returns the favor and GIVES her a word of admonishment. How many of us know that “we” all should be there to GIVE something to someone. Someone’s deliverance is locked up in your obedience to GIVE. Today I was feeling “mighty mighty low” and an angel came and reminded me in my “moment” that I should open up my heart & worship the Lord! The word of God shows us that often we will have to encourage ourselves. That’s what David had to do.

 I Samuel 30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

Sometimes are spirit man’s batteries are low and we need a spiritual jump start! “We” all have to remember that someone’s deliverance is your mouth, your actions. “We” should be standing in the gap for our brothers & sisters in the Lord as well as those who are lost.

Romans 15 1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. 3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. 4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. 5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: 6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.

I thank God today for His Son, Jesus Christ for whom without Him, without His obedience unto death, without His shed blood I would be DEAD in my sins & forever separated from God. I glorify His name today and make a boast within my soul of His Greatness, His Love – Everything pertaining to Him! I open up my heart and let Him to mend up those broken down areas & all those areas that are not submitted to Him.

Until Next Time…

I woke up on Day One with a determination that no matter what challenges or obstacles I will face in my personal life I would make it my business to follow-through with what was set out for me to do this month. In record time – Day Two, the boat seemingly sprang a serious leak and my first instinct (my flesh) wanted to jump ship! I began to tell myself, “You are way over your head”, “What were you thinking when you made such commitments?” and one hit hard, “Did God really tell you to do this?”

I am quite certain EVERYONE that is reading this post has had that experience before, where you begin to do something and everything imaginable attempts to happen to stop you.

I want to set the record straight. I am not doing this to prove anything to anyone or to myself for that matter. This would instantly make this work null and void, a work of iniquity, an idol of my own selfish motives if I did. I pray that if what I write only reaches just one person (including ME!) than I have done what thus saith the Lord.

As humans, we have this propensity to dress up our own selfish motives, agendas, and plan to resemble some Holy work of the Lord. We build buildings, erect monuments, our lives all in the name of the Lord. We then get shocked to no end when the winds of life come and destroy it all. How was it all destroyed? Well the foundation, the beginning was never founded on Truth, on the Word of God but was made out of our own imaginations, our own carnal thinking of what we should be doing.

The foundation of everything we do as Believers in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ should be rooted, grounded and inspired by in His Truth, which is the Word of God. If not, as sure as anyone stands it will FALL. Loudly!

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Let all of us continue to look at our hearts motivations to make sure that everything we are doing is sanctioned by God. So that we will not erect our own idols of self-righteousness that will eventually come tumbling down. I want anyone reading these post to know that this is my attempt at obeying the Lord as it relates to the call on my life to write. As I work at doing this, my main goal is not for you to see or hear me – VMarie – Vertelle – Thr33 – Your Friend – Your Sister – Your Mother – Your Daughter BUT for you to hear GOD. I am just a vessel, an imperfect one at that! No matter how many times I spell-check or edit these words I am quite sure I or someone else can find a grammatical or spelling error, however I challenge you to HEAR with your spiritual EARS what the Spirit of the Lord is saying to us!

Until Next Time…

August is just around the corner!

3 of the last 4 years, I’ve dedicated the month of August to restart or revive some areas in my life!

Since the number Eight represents new beginnings, it seems very fitting. It has been a challenge to dedicate each and every day to writing down my thoughts, especially since some days I would have nothing to say…. Well I’ll rephrase that, because anyone who knows me…. I always have something to say. I’ll just say that some days I wasn’t motivated to write what I really was either feeling or going through.

Most of the recurring themes of the earlier #Restart posts were dedicated to refocusing how to overcome life’s obstacles Walking in this life while fulfilling your destiny in Christ. I am not sure what I’ll pen but I know it’ll be a challenge nonetheless.

Oh what a challenge! Although I am up for it once again, I have this weird uneasy feeling that I can’t put a definite word to… I am sure if I meditate on it long enough the Holy Spirit will reveal it and of course I will share!

So strap on your seat belts everyone and get ready our Restart 2015 flight will be taking off in ….

Until Next Time…
