If My Words Could Speak

the musings of a peculiar poet….

Hello Everyone!

Today is the eighth day of the eighth month! A double dose of new beginnings! I had a slight epiphany last night as I was beginning to think about today’s blog and that is… There are many people claiming to be happy and are miserable, there are many claiming to be whole and are broken up in pieces, there are many people claiming they believe in Truth and yet their actions show that they despise every aspect of truth.

What are you saying but your actions or reality speak a different story? Whenever we experience a duality in our words, actions, lifestyle etc, we should take a hard look at that thing. Some of us are so divided that we are even divided with ourselves. WOW! Being at odds with your self??

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. James 1:8

When we vacillate between two opinions we create an atmosphere in the spirit that causes calamity, unrest, division, strife, grief, and confusion. So if you look around and your life is ALWAYS in this type of state please don’t automatically credit the devil! Sure he will definitely take advantage of the open door of opportunity to wreck your life. It certainly wouldn’t be him that opened it. Once we realize that we are standing in a position of being unstable, we have should repent and ask the Lord to forgive us of our unbelief. It is unbelief that causes us to halt between two opinions!

We must make up our minds to serve God with our entire life, give Him our whole hearts and BELIEVE that His word is TRUE!

Today is the day to do just that.

Did you hear that?

He’s calling you…

Until Next Time… VMarie aka Thr33

Hello Everyone!

I was rebuked yesterday by a co-worker, who will remain nameless because I might have to pay them for the mention! lol But seriously the rebuke was needed and I receive it wholeheartedly which was, “V, there is NO excuse for you NOT to post something EVERYDAY even if it is just a sentence… or a word!!!” As I said then and I will say today — I agree! It is important for each one us to remember that someone is counting on you today. So even if it is a small gesture or a huge statement, YOU are needed in some way, shape or form to be an angel or a messenger to someone. So in the tradition of TBT (Throw Back Thursday’s), I went into the archives of my Down the Rabbit Hole Blog and decided to resurrect a post.

C’est ici…

Today I was visited by an angel – a messenger. I had a Sophia moment. You remember in The Color Purple when Sophie was in the store attempting to purchase items from the laundry list that the Mayor’s wife gave her. Sophie was just released out of prison for sucker punching the Mayor (wrong move).  After her stint in prison, she ended doing the very thing she said she would not do and that was being the maid of Mayor’s wife. Her ordeal left her in a bewildered and catatonic state. As she stood in the middle of the general store, out of nowhere Ms. Celie comes to her rescue. She takes the list from Sophie and begins to assist her in gathering the items. Later on in the movie Sophie thanks Ms. Celie for being there for her in one of her lowest moments & returns the favor and GIVES her a word of admonishment. How many of us know that “we” all should be there to GIVE something to someone. Someone’s deliverance is locked up in your obedience to GIVE. Today I was feeling “mighty mighty low” and an angel came and reminded me in my “moment” that I should open up my heart & worship the Lord! The word of God shows us that often we will have to encourage ourselves. That’s what David had to do!

I Samuel 30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

Sometimes are spirit man’s batteries are low and we need a spiritual jump start! “We” all have to remember that someone’s deliverance is your mouth, your actions. “We” should be standing in the gap for our brothers & sisters in the Lord as well as those who are lost.

Romans 15

1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. 3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.

4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. 5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.

After the messenger left, I thanked God and then I popped in a worship CD – Terry MacAlmon’s Visit Us.

I thank God today for His Son, Jesus Christ for whom without Him, without His obedience unto death, without His shed blood I would be DEAD in my sins & forever separated from God. I glorify His name today and make a boast within my soul of His Greatness, His Love – Everything pertaining to Him! I open up my heart and let Him to mend up those broken down areas & all those areas that are not submitted to Him.

End of transmission…. Three

History is the continuous, systematic narrative of past events as it relates to a particular group of people, country, period, person, etc. (Dictionary.com). We should note that since history has its place in everyone’s life, it is inevitable that there will be many versions of mankind’s systematic narrative. Many of those narratives are influenced by the varying perspectives of those who are telling or writing the story at that time. For instance, did you know that there are some who say that there were only 12 original colonies?

We were taught from elementary school and into higher education that there were 13 original colonies that lead the revolt against Britain.  This has become a part of our narrative in America and we accept it. Most of us never saw the need to challenge this information because someone of authority, a teacher perhaps, taught this to us. It was repeated over and over and over and over and over again… until we believed it, never questioned, and took it for a fact.

Here is one version of history about the “Thirteen Original Colonies”:

When the rebellion initially began against Britain, there were actually only 12 colonies. Delaware wasn’t included in this number because it wasn’t a legal colony yet. Originally founded by the Dutch, it was a territory that was controlled by New York, and then went back and forth between Maryland & Pennsylvania. Ownership of Delaware finally landed in the hands of William Penn (the owner of Pennsylvania) and it remained apart of PA until the Revolutionary War. Delaware was actually called “The Three Lower Counties” and it wasn’t dubbed Delaware until 1776, which was well after the start of the American Revolution (1765) (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2014).

Why the mathematical error? There may be a plethora of reasons why however, let’s just go with timing… The American Revolution began in 1765 and during this time there were a number of political and social movements that led to the actual American Revolutionary War (1775 – 1783). Since “The Three Lower Counties” officially changed their name to Delaware in 1776, which was after the rebellion but during the revolution, we can gather this is the reason it was included with the original 12 colonies as the plus one colony, hence making it the “Thirteenth Colony”. Some would say that information is not a big deal and is just a technicality; however, others would say it could be considered to be a bit deceptive. There are many other variances of our American narrative i.e. America’s wasn’t actually independent until after the American Revolutionary War ended and the Treaty of Paris signed on September 3, 1783, Betsy Ross never designed and sewed the first American flag  and it still remains a mystery who did. Another twist in history, Abraham Lincoln efforts to free the slaves weren’t so much that he was against slavery; in fact his concerns had nothing to do with slavery. In his own words in a letter to Horace Greeley, his primary concerns were to save the Union:

“My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union” (Lincoln, 1862).

Clearly by his words if Lincoln could have saved the Union without abolishing slavery he would have done so and of course our American Narrative would be a very different story today! Again, these are just a few examples of man’s account of American History and of course if we study human history worldwide we will see many stories or narratives. I am in no way implying that man’s account of history is not relevant to our lives because of its has many apparent flawed “facts”, on the contrary it is very important. I am only stating that since our perceptions of history can be warped by flawed “facts”, we should be very careful how we perceive man’s account of his own history. It is crucial that we understand what God wants us to know about what really happened as opposed to the various versions of what happened. As Believers, we should be seeking the truth about how we arrive to a place and study not only man’s history but what God is saying about said events.

The definition of truth is the quality or state of being true, a statement or idea that is true or accepted as true; the real facts about something (Merriam-Webster.com). “… ) Also in biblical terms, truth is described as “that which is consistent with the mind, will, character, glory, and being of God (Grace to You, 2009). Truth is also declared to be the way things are according to how God sees it or as He has made it.

Our history is very important not only because it gives us details of our past it also is the primary tool in which God speaks to us. God uses historical events to fulfill Biblical prophecy! This fact is very foreign to most Believers because the Body of Christ has been dumbed down and refuses to, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). Instead of being students of scripture, we are students of vain philosophies that are designed by the enemy to keep us trapped in this world’s mindset and of course will only lead to our own destruction.

So we should all be asking ourselves… Why should I be concerned about past and current events in mankind’s history?

Until Next Time…. Be on the watch for PART II!

Destiny… the determined path or direction of a person’s life. I always imagined that this courtship I have with Destiny is supposed to be a romantic one. You know the scenario… the good guys win and gets the girl so to speak or in my case the guy and ride off into the sunset on a secluded beach somewhere off on a Greek island ;-). When dealing with Destiny there is always conflict and intrigue. In the end we always expect the outcome to “feel good”. I will have you know that often times Destiny can come off as being uncaring, unaware or just not interested in your personal opinion of how things should be going. Destiny pays no attention to your longing for your future to finally make its grand entrance and with its own themed music no less! Although our walk with Destiny may have its dramatic turns, upsets, and romantic moments, the stark reality is this: Our Destiny is NOT played out on a stage or movie set. The determined path of our life usually doesn’t pan out the way we imagine it. Especially when our imagination is unrealistic and likened to a scene from a “reality” show. So please remember this:

IT IS NEVER HOW YOU IMAGINE OR THINK IT WILL BE!

We are not the author or the director of our Destiny, there is only ONE who is and that is God.

Acts 17:26

26 And He has made from one blood[a] every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, (NKJV)

Hopefully by having a submitted life to God through accepting His son Jesus Christ, we can realize what our true Destiny is. Since He determines everything about us, it would be wise to get with the one who could not only guide us on our date with Destiny but also reassure us when the ride is a bit bumpy and seems a tumultuous!

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Jeremiah 1:5

April 13, 2014

Well, Well, Well…

We’ve done it again! We’ve come to another 12/31 where we “reset” our calendars to begin “anew”.

2013 has been very exciting for me. I’ve achieved some major  goals (not all) HOWEVER, I can happily check of some very important  milestones in this year. It leaves me only more geared and rearing to go to do the things the Lord has planned for me.

I would like to encourage everyone who has an ear to “hear”…

Embrace the plans and the vision that God has for your and NOT your own. Often times our plans have nothing to do with what He has set up for us. Truth be told even when we’ve decided to do what the Lord says, we still contaminate them  with our own ideas of how it should pan out.

One of the major things we must  recognize is: OUR LIFE AND LIFE’S PURPOSE IS NOT OUR OWN!

My dad (Apostle WD Carter III)  said something recently that has always been a reality to me however when he said it again it really resonated with me on a “different” level. He said we – The People of God  are Victorious Sacrifices!

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. Romans 8:36-37

I won’t rehash his message so to speak, 🙂 however I will say that properly put in perspective – As the Believers & Followers of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, our goals, dreams, and/or visions should ONLY comprise of those things that promote the Kingdom of God in a major sense. Anything else is something that we have contrived and basically is a pile of dung — useless in the sight of God. The word even tells us “In ALL thy ways acknowledge Him.”  This acknowledgment will cause us to make some hard decisions that won’t feel good.

Ask yourselves as we close 2013, Are you truly ready to be a sheep accounted for slaughter… a Living Sacrifice? Do you know what a Living Sacrifice entails? Are you willing to give your “ALL” to Christ, even unto death? These realities are IMPOSSIBLE to fathom or embrace through the filter of our carnality and most often seemingly put a damper on ones mood. If you feel that way, that is very UNFORTUNATE and you must awaken your inner man to accept spiritual truths set up not by me or any other person but set up by the True and Living God.

So as we go into 2014, go in with a determination to only GIVE our ALL to Christ to be a LIVING SACRIFICE. To be used as the FATHER sees fit.

Until Next Time…. See Ya in 2014

 Hello All!

Time certainly does fly when you are living life! So let me begin my mentioning the proverbial “Elephant in the room”… What happen to days 15 through 24??? Well let’s see… There was a new addition to the family. Welcome Jeremiah! Of course I had to take time out to visit with the baby etc. What else… Summer’s over  and the Fall Session is underway …BACK TO SCHOOL! … Work… A family reunion… More work… School work. You get the picture? 🙂 There are many, many times when we start doing something and get side tracked or even a better term — re-routed. I wouldn’t call anything of the above events distractions, road blocks, or hindrances. They are simply life events that take precedence over other life events.

During my brief hiatus … I got to thinking about the validity of our how our interruptions seemingly invade our life. There are all types of interruptions and it’s a good idea to always be on the “lookout” for them. In order to determine whether there’s an underlying reason and/or message to be learned. I emphasized “lookout” because often times when life happens we analyze it with our natural eyes or from a carnal perspective and never give credence to what has first happened in the Spirit. We live in a reverse reality and we assume incorrectly that that natural events make spiritual outcomes. There are soo many scriptures that come to mind that debunk that notion.  “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16 and “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:25) These speak to a Spiritual principle that let’s know that life happens first in the Spirit and therefore takes precedence and has a direct impact on our natural circumstances. Now I am not suggesting that our actions are not important however, what I am speaking to is which reality are we giving first seat to.

There are great advantages in continually reminding ourselves that we MUST live from a Spiritual standpoint and not a carnal one. This balancing act is a stuff one, yes indeed. However, it is achievable. One of the ways I believe we can conquer this battle is by always checking our faith.  If we don’t have faith or if it is wavering or movable, we cannot have a belief in the Spiritual things of God which cannot be perceived with our natural eyes, no matter how hard we try. The word says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

2 Corinthians 4:

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. NKJV

Every aspect of our natural life is a direct result in the Spirit. As we walk along on our journey, we should perpetually ask the Lord to confirm our location to insure that we are on the right path. Psalm 23:3 says, “He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”  Walking with the Lord requires that we do so, unless we look up and find that we have went down a wrong path or made a left turn and slipped in a rabbit hole or smack right into a brick. Sometimes we get stuck in one place thinking that we are advancing however we are only we are chasing our tails as it were. No matter how it looks, we need to check in with the Father for guidance and redirection!

Until Next Time…

(Original post from Down the Rabbit Hole by VMS – July 28, 2009, Revised August 2013)

Anyone down there listening???….

We live in a society that embraces the quick fix. If it takes more than a minute we don’t want it! This mind set is a destructive one. It feeds into the notion that diligence and perseverance are archaic and is no longer desired or needed. Did you not know that God’s timing is NOT our timing? Often times God’s timing feels a bit slower than ours. His Word says that there is a “time” & “season” for everything.  A day with the Lord is as a thousand years and thousand years as one day.

Do you remember when you gave your life to the Lord? You were probably were told — “Now everything is going to be ALLL right!” In a sense everything is “all right”, because you gave your life to Christ and judicially you can stand before God and your current path isn’t a path — to Hell! Most of us forget to read the print in the Book … the Good Book… The Bible… The WORD of God.  Most of the time we aren’t told about the spiritual battle we have just signed up for! After our conversion, we must get disciplined in His word so that our minds can be TRANSFORMED to the mind of Christ. How is it that we have lived the majority of our life in sin and to the dictates of our flesh and think that we must not go through a process of change… transformation… deliverance… and sanctification?

Can we please keep it real and stay in the realm of reality???

I had a conversation with an associate of mine, who announced to me that finally they’ve decided to do what the Lord has called them to do! After years of living their life out of the will of God, in rebellion & disobedience, they have had the “epiphany” they were ready to preach the Word of God! Ok.. What happened to the period of time where you start getting delivered from all the disobedience you walked in and become a faithful steward? What happened to your PROCESS?? Certainly you’re not counting all those years of rebellion to God has your preparation time?

The word of God says that He exalts only those who humble themselves. Those who exalt themselves will be abased!

And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. Matthew 23:12

This is an act of your will — you must choose to be humble.

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 1 Peter 5:6

Ok, so now that we have gotten right with the Lord, whether it is for the first time or after being rebellious to His Will, we must basically SIT DOWN! Our zeal is only to encourage us and excite us to go on to KNOW Him further. This is not a license to skip over His designed process — sanctification which includes discipleship. Even Jesus went through a process.

Are you being the servant greater than your Master?

Can U Hear Me???…..

Until Next Time … VMarie aka Thr33
