As a culture, we rely on our strength to get us through. It is startling to know what we really feel about showing our weaknesses. Many of us were raised that we should only show our strengths and to display any form of weakness is a definite sign of poor character & lack of leadership. Indirectly, we are taught to bully and to taunt those who, in our opinions, exemplify the inferior strait of ‘weakness’. Here is a definition of the word weakness: (noun)
1. the state or quality of being weak; lack of strength, firmness, vigor, or the like; feebleness.
2. an inadequate or defective quality, as in a person’s character; slight fault or defect: to show great sympathy for human weaknesses
Today I read something that not only solidified my relationship with God through His son Jesus Christ, it also comforted me and gave me a sense of peace. A peace the Word of God says that only can come from Him … a peace that surpassing all understanding.
Philippians 4:7
7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
The devotional I read today reminded me that I should not fear my weaknesses for in them the Lord has the perfect platform to show HIS strength! Walking in our human strength only says that we refuse to trust and lean on the Lord. We are saying to him our own ways are greater than His. How foolish is that!? When we actually embrace the reality that in Him is the only place we can have true STRENGTH, then and only then will we be STRONG! Strength defined: (noun)
1. the quality or state of being strong; bodily or muscular power; vigor.
2. mental power, force, or vigor.
3. moral power, firmness, or courage.
4. power by reason of influence, authority, resources, numbers, etc.
Only in His strength, wisdom and grace, can we overcome the world, the flesh, & the adversary. Only by walking in His strength can put us in the place to freely relinquish all control to Him and forces us to walk in the full confidence of Christ which makes us what? — STRONG! So glory not in what your human strength can produce but glory in the Power of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 12:9
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
