If My Words Could Speak

the musings of a peculiar poet….

We live in a society where media dumps a vast amount of information constantly. Opinions are shared and handed out in such a way that it could be overwhelming to most and if you are not paying attention, as most don’t, you can be lead to believe something that is a lie. If we are not careful media outlets can do the thinking for us, we will become complacent and don’t take the time to check or re-check the information provided by them. We take everything at face value or at the word of another’s point-of-view without truly forming a correct framework or answer to that same information.

This phenomenon is nothing new. In these days & times operating in this mentality has a much steeper price and with higher consequences. It is a detriment to be considered a “low information” people or in other words – low informed. This concept comes from a political term – “low information voters”, which describes a person, “who may vote, but who are generally poorly informed about politics”¹  One of the major downfalls in having this mindset is one can be manipulated into thinking that they are voting for their own shared ideals or principles but in fact, they are agreeing to something they have no clue about the details of said position or policy. Why? Because the person failed to do their own research or READ the fine lines so to speak. More often than not, when we take on this mindset of the “low informed” we will end up voting for or accepting issues that are far from our own stated morals or values.

God warned His people, if you we didn’t procure His much-needed knowledge we would most assuredly DIE!

“My people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6a, KJV).

This destruction comes at a consequence of not being informed correctly, by not using what God has given us as a guide or by not using God’s Knowledge to aid us in making decisions. When we use other measures to live our lives we have ultimately choosen to reject God’s Knowledge and Wisdom. The scripture goes on to prove this very statement,

“…because thou has rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou has forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children” (Hosea 4:6, KJV).

As the People of God, we have a great responsibility not only to ourselves, our children, but to the world at large. If we don’t fully uphold the laws, statues, and precepts of the God we claim to love and adore, how can we expect to make a change or pray to that end that a change be made. Our witness, our effectiveness, who we were made to be (a preservative) is useless (Matthew 5:13)! God doesn’t HEAR US!

Hosea goes on to write that God’s leadership with His people in tow have committed whoredoms against God. They have placed man’s concepts, man’s point of views, and man-made “religions” over His Word. By doing so they have sinned against Him and their heart’s are full of iniquity, which are sins that are deemed innately wrong – no one had to tell you it was wrong. God placed something in you to know it was wrong!  You just know it!

Again, there is great consequence in being a person who is low informed. Whether or not it is general information about the goings on in our world or the fundamental basics of what God expects of His people. We ought to make sure that we are doing everything as the People of God to hear what the Spirit of the Lord is saying to us on a DAILY basis.

You cannot be the person who sits on the sidelines and not crack open the Bible or research by READING other materials to assist you in understanding the Word of God for yourself or the world you live in! Let along give an answer to those who need to hear it.

If you are one that ascribes to the notion that, “I don’t enjoy reading” or “I don’t get what the big deal is”, you my friend are a Low Information Believer and you WILL be deceived into thinking that you are living after the edicts of God but in reality you are rejecting God and have called Him a liar in your everyday actions, affiliations, and conversations.

Please read Hosea Chapter 4 in its entirety!

“He that hath and ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches (Body of Christ)” (Revelation 2:7, emphasis mine).

Until Next Time…

Well, if my words could speak, they would shout out for help or plea for an answer or bargain for just a moment of relief from this lull in my focus.

I am sure I am not the only writer person that lives in a place of challenge on what to write, when to write, or how to write. For instance, often times I get creative burst of energy that births a title or subject matter. Nearly every time this INSPA comes at very inopportune times, which doesn’t give me the time to play with this new-found idea.. i.e. during a meeting at work, in my car, during study time, during Bible Study, whilst someone is having a “serious” conversation with me.

So I causally pull out my Smartphone and record the title and/or thought. My heart races and even skips a beat because I am back “in love” with this gift called writing. Only to be very let down when I try to recreate that moment and begin to put pen to paper and there is nothing… zilch… nada!

What happened? Where did it go?

I get discouraged because the only thing I can successfully recreate is this blank canvas along with a blinking cursor. My dynamic duo… or not so dynamic… UGH!!!

In one of my many rants to the Lord, I discovered that my most formidable enemy which causes most of my seemingly insurmountable obstacles is.. wait for it — ME! Yeah go figure!

Instead of redefining my goals and being consistent, I cave in to the idea of my last “successful” piece and I fold and quit. I quit because I build myself up to believe that I can’t possibly do as good as the last thing I wrote. By the way … how long ago was that? Don’t even…

WOW! How idiotic of me to think that it was even ME that made the last thing I wrote great! I mean after all I thought that I proclaimed that this things were Holy Spirit inspired… Have I missed the mark.

I won’t even pretend that I have some great scripture to correlate with this revelation. I am sure there is, however just the epiphany alone that I am my problem has me shaking my head. Not in disbelieve. I am thinking to myself, “Why didn’t you think of that?” I guess I wouldn’t need the Lord, if I could have figured that on my own…. Right?

Here a few pointers that could lend to be of some help:

  • Find a system of sorting out your ideas and keep them in front of you!
  • Make the time! Be consistent in your efforts to write. Even if produces a blank page. Keep at it!
  • Create a to-do list or marked goals. There is a reward at every level of completion. Keep track!
  • Get Direction! Pray and ask the Lord, “What would you have me to write today?”

The last pointer definitely isn’t of least importance. It is the key to producing what “Thus saith the Lord!” It is how as Believers in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ should be conducting our lives.

“Lord what would you have me to do today?” The scripture that comes to heart is,

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:6 KJV

I won’t make any GRAND promises…. but it seems as if… I’M BACK!

Keep me lifted in prayer!

Until Next Time…

It never fails…. at the start of a new week we pray for the end to arrive! I am so very guilty of this! Isn’t it just like humans to want to bypass the hard work at the beginning… skate over the middle and arrive at the end to receive the benefits of the weekend celebration which is actually the reward for a hard weeks work?

Our attitude of a quick fix can & will bring us to a place where we are ill prepared to deal with the challenges in our life. We want to rush to the “end” to where we would like to receive what we claim we deserve. Once we get there we don’t have the tools necessary to overcome the challenges nor receive the perceived “reward” or opportunity.

28 “For which of you, wanting to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? 29 Otherwise, after he has laid the foundation and cannot finish it, all the onlookers will begin to make fun of him, 30 saying, ‘This man started to build and wasn’t able to finish’ (Luke 14: 28-29, Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Often times we want to jump into something because it seems good or appeals to our flesh . When the first wind of turmoil comes we have not what it takes to complete the task. Simply because we didn’t consider anything. We did not COUNT THE COST! It is so very important to make certain that we are not rushing through to get to where we feel is important, because if we make this a habit and take no thought to God’s plans, or our responsibility… We will surely miss the Miracle on Monday that God wanted us to witness and to then share with unbeliever.

Ask yourself… Will you be the person who skips over every opportunity and forgo getting reproved and corrected…. till one day you get before the Father and He tells you…. “Depart from me…. I NEVER knew you!” (Matthew 7:23)

Until next time…. Bask In His Presence, Be Blessed & GET READY!!!

Hi All!

For the past couple of weeks I have battled to gain access to this blog and Eureka! I have finally found the fix! Persistence AND diligence ALWAYS prevails!

Although, we are officially done with RESTART 2014! there are a couple of post I would like to share on that theme.

I am truly thankful for all the new readers to If My Words Could Speak and I am declaring that I’ve gotten my mojo back! My goal for the rest of 2014 is to post twice a week – Monday & Thursday. We generally associate our Monday with being mundane, murky, & miserable because it is usually the first day back to work and so I will dedicate that to a weekly RESTART!

So come and join me & I would love to hear from you!

Verse of the day!

Psalm 5:12

For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield. (NKJV)

Until next time… Bask In His Presence!

Day Twenty-One!

This is the day when, according to some, having done a thing good or bad for 21 consistent days a habit is formed. Well I am kinda divided on this because there are some things I’ve done for 21 days (and more) consistently and they still aren’t a habit. For example, getting up at 6am without the aid of an alarm… I am NOT a morning person. No matter how hard I try if my alarm isn’t set…. FORGET ABOUT IT! There are other theories out there that suggest that it takes on average 66 days to form a habit. If it has anything to do with me waking up at 6am… Errr I still don’t think so.

I think there really shouldn’t be any hard and fast rules about how quickly habits are formed, because I truly believe that it really would depend on the circumstances and/or the individual person. The Word of God says that God gives every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3) and by this measure of faith would all other spiritual gifts flow. Faith is the foundation on which you believe on Him and can obtain God’s pleasure.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: Hebrews 11:6

Do you not know that even with the measure of faith given to every man, that there are still things that might be easier for you to overcome than me? Now I only bring up this point, not to support one staying in a place of not growing spiritually however I simply say this to assist in framing one’s expectations.

“Sally” was totally healed from her debilitating disease after one prayer however, “Mike” he suffered for nearly 5 years before he received healing in his body. Did Sally have more faith than Mike? There is no way we can make that assumption based on a time frame or anything else. Doing the comparison game is definitely not wise!

For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.               2 Cor. 10:1

I said all the above to say this: Measure yourself only by the Word of God and not by the opinion or perception of another, including your own. If you see that you should be farther along in your process, prayer to the Lord and ask Him to show you were you are short. BELIEVE me when I tell you – He will definitely let you know! The thing is this….. WILL YOU BELIEVE HIM?

In the midst of me attempting to do all that I know that I can do and desire. The inevitable happened — LIFE! Who would have thunk it! 😉 It is that time of year again that not only do I plan to do RESTART!, I also start the FALL semester again. Now I did plan for this because last year I was bombarded with the hectic full-time work life on a Med/Surg unit along with maintaining my full time status in school. What I didn’t plan for this go round was changing into a new role at work, which requires another level of commitment.  It never happens the way you expect, even if you try to be prepared.

Now the Lord is omniscience and of course He knew actually where I would be so therefore, I can bear this! It is very important for the Believer to remember that in all aspects of our life He is present. He knows what you need, when you need it!

So just remember, whenever you are reading this – God has defined the boundaries in which you should live and move! He has made this day for us to conquer it with Him being at the helm of our “ship”! When in doubt about how to master this moment, this hour, this day, your life… ASK Him the one who created THIS day!

Psalm 118:24 This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!

Until Next Time… REJOICE!!!

Today wasn’t such a great day :-(…. well everything looked good in the natural sense. However, it was on the inside where it was raining. I know I can’t be the only person on the planet that when placed in a great place of influence or significance you “feel” insignificant.

in·sig·nif·i·cant
ˌinsigˈnifikənt
adjective
too small or unimportant to be worth consideration.
“the amount required was insignificant compared with military spending”
synonyms: unimportant, trivial, trifling, negligible, inconsequential, of no account, inconsiderable; More
(of a person) without power or influence.
meaningless.

Now, when we look at the surface of this word it can reveal layers of a person’s self-esteem. However, if we look at it from God’s perspective, because of sin NONE of us are worth being considered. There is NONE good no not ONE!

Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

We are only made right, good, righteous by accepting and submitting to our Saviour & Lord Jesus Christ.. and even that wasn’t something we thought up! The word of God says, “A man’s gift will make room for him and place him before great men” (Proverbs 18:16).

So, when what God has given you (gifts & talents) places you before people of influence and great opportunity there is a moment of inadequacy (or humility) that happens, which should remind you of your true purpose for being in that position…

Which is to represent Him and to be a witness for Him and NOT to heap it unto your own lust!

Stay humble (small, unimportant) in order for Him to be seen! Because in our weakness, He is made strong!

2 Corinthians 12:9-11

But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and [a]show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may [b]pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me! Honor me whilst I am here in this reality because when my spirit departs this body and rest in eternity…

those accolades won’t mean nothing to me!

Because when I was there with you, nothing I did provoked such recognition.

Weep for me right now! Because when I’ve cried my last tear…

I will need yours to help me…

Help me to heal… Aren’t you my keeper?

Love me this very instant, because it should provoke something within you…

That will prompt you to forgive me…

For it covers a multitude of sin and asks for nothing in return.

Remember me now, because when it seems like all has forgotten me, I’ll need that…

but if you chose to reminisce after I’ve left and long gone to glory,

Just know that it is Jesus Christ to whom your thoughts belong to!

Whilst I am Here…

Being consistent takes a made up mind!
